Akoroso Concession

Optima Global recently acquired a vast mineral rich concession and is thrilled to announce that Optima Global Mining will be vigorously embarking on an exploration program to evaluate the full extent of gold and Columbite-tantalite of the Akoroso concession.

The proposed Akoroso exploration license covers a total of 291.83 Sq Km /181.343 Sq Miles and is located in the Birim South and west of Akim districts of the Eastern Region and Agona district of the Central Region of Ghana, West Africa.

Much of the concession area is covered by secondary forest, which has been the result of previous farming activities and the cultivation of cocoa, oil palm and food crops.

Akoroso, A major community in the proposed area has modern economic infrastructure, such as health facilities, schools, hotels and telecommunication facilities. Akoroso is connected to the national electricity power grid. Exploration work on the concession will be directed from an exploration base at Asamankese, which is the district capital.

Bedrock geology in the concession area is dominated by basin-type granitoid complexes.

Various phases of plutonic complexes are distinguishable on the basis of the levels of radiometric potassium, thorium and uranium and they are widespread in the concession area.

An intermediate to felsic pluton with strong radiometric potassium signature underlie the eastern half of the concession area.

A medium potassium, Biotite-muscovite granite and ademellite underlie the western portion of the area.

Metatuff with interbedded schist and phyllites; they are common in the northern portion of the concession area.

The proposed licence area is part of a regional trend extending from the Voltaian escarpment in the SSW-SW direction. The structural trend is best known for the extensive alluvial occurrence and gold-bearing quartz vein systems with indication of gold associated with laterite is reported.

Alluvial gold deposits are widespread in the western and southwestern part of this region.

The concession is thus considered highly prospective for types of gold deposits that include:

  • Quartz vein and altered/ oxidized shear system
  • Alluvial gold

Available information indicate occurrence of Columbite-tantalite bearing pegmatites in the proposed concession area. Tantalite occurs almost entirely in the pegmatite associated with other economic minerals such as: Beryl, Spodumene, Feldspar, Mica, Scheelite, Tourmaline, Potassium, Lithium, Fluorite, Cassiterite, Manganese, Thorium Uraninite and Monazite.

The Akoroso concession will be explored for gold and the geologically investigated Columbite-tantalite mineralization in pegmatites.

The work program is to generate targets through a combination of stream sediment sampling, soil sampling, auger sampling and routine geological and regolith mapping.

It is extremely important to Optima Global that all pegmatites are thoroughly explored and investigated by means of geological surveys, surface chip sampling and bulk sampling.

Optima Global has held meetings with related government agencies, district assembly officials. Lines of communication have been established with relevant authorities to enhance rapid resolution of any problems. Neighbouring farmers’ committees have also been set up in various localities to negotiate terms and rates for compensation in regards to any damaged property or crops.
